If you're reading this, you're probably looking for the perfect car seat (or stroller) insert. The term "anti-sweat seat insert" has become commonplace. What does this term actually mean? Does such an insert actually exist?
Let's start with the fact that sweating is nothing more than the body's natural reaction to, among other things, high ambient temperatures. By sweating, we lower our body temperature. Without it, our organs would be vulnerable to damage, so we should never try to block this crucial function
No fabric, material, or synthetic material known to us has the ability to block sweating. Special compounds (e.g., aluminum oxide)—so-called blockers—are used for this purpose in people with excessive sweating. They penetrate the sweat glands and simply clog them.
So why do many manufacturers of car seat inserts call them anti-sweat? We don't know, but we suspect they're referring to improving baby's comfort while traveling in a car seat or stroller. Every baby placed in a car seat in hot weather, where their body touches the synthetic upholstery, will sweat. That's why we recommend special car seat inserts. The seat insert should be made of natural materials, such as linen or merino wool, which have thermoregulatory properties and are also highly absorbent. In other words, they absorb moisture while keeping skin dry. Importantly, all materials used in the production of car seat inserts must be certified. Merino wool should be RWF certified, and cotton/linen should have at least an Oeko-Tex Standard 100 or GOTS certification.
So if there is no anti-sweat insole, is it worth investing in such products at all?
